SUPER BOWL BABY!!!!!!
OH MY GOD!!
The EAGLES are going to the Super Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida on February 6 to claim their first NFL title sinc 1960!!!!! My apartment yesterday was as filled with screams, shouts, and tears of laughter, relief, and joy as the entire Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. I've never bitten my nails that much during a football game before!
They won the NFC title over the Atlanta Falcons with a score of 27-10 (ironically...the VERY SAME score they lost by the last time they went to the Super Bowl against the Raiders in 1981). So, no NFL championship title since 1960, no Super Bowl since 1981, and this being their FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW to go to the NFC Championship game...there was NO WAY the Eagles were going to lose this game! Holy shit, what a great game. The fans in Philly are definitely the most unique in the NFL, but all 67,000+ that were in the "Linc" yesterday were crazed and determined, never even sitting down during the 3 hour game in below-freezing temperatures!!
Now that the Patriots are going to represent the AFC, no one is giving the Eagles a chance in hell in the Super Bowl. I say, "Bring it on, suckas." The Eagles have been the underdog and the one proposed to LOSE every game since they lost Terrell Owens, but they have come screaming back with a vengeance, proving all the analysts (mostly Michael Irvin, to my GREAT joy) W-R-O-N-G. Philly is used to having to face being the underdog...they weren't playing the theme from Rocky in that stadium for nothing!
